Divided / Book Review

Hello dears

Yesterday I finished the book Divided, by Jennifer Sights, and...well, i never wrote a review like this, not in amazon, not in goodreads (which was the same as amazon), usually i tend to reserve my comments when i don't like a book, but this time, omg, i wasn't able to do that, i had to wrote about it.

"During a routine case, private investigator Elena Ronen meets and falls in love with Vittorio Santini, member of a secret coven, and a kiss awakens her dormant magical powers. Because Elena wields an extremely powerful form of magic, she struggles to convince her enemies she has no desire to take over the coven. When loyalties are questioned, and Elena can no longer tell friend from foe, she must prove she wants nothing more than to live her life quietly. When this wish falls on deaf ears, Elena and Vittorio must work together to defeat their enemies as they try to save their love, their lives, and the lives of those they care about..."

If you read the description, and want to read the book stop right here, because what comes next has lots of spoilers.

First, I loved the cover, and the story -a love story- sounded great, a girl met a guy and felt in love, the problem is when the girl felt in love the same night with this guy, i mean i'm a true believer that love exist, but love at first sight?, you can like the person, you can feel attracted to the person in question, but not to the point to say "love of my life".
Elena, the main character, is a young woman with a dark past, well, she lost her mom in an accident, and when she saw that her father was unfaithful to her mother, stop talking to him, she left school, and became drug addict, and alcoholic, and then she went to therapy, and has been in medication since then.
I can't understand how terrible must be to lose someone so dear to you, specially a mother, but i know people who lost someone close to them, or who lost both of her parents, and they don't do drugs, they moved on, even when they think in this person daily.
Vittorio -Elena's love- met Elena in a club and sense her, so instantly felt something so strong for her. He was in the balcony, so he must have a really good sight, because he knew she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Vittorio, -like his name indicate- is Italian, super tall and super handsome. A poor boy who now was super rich, all thanks to his hard work. He suffered a terrible childhood too, because his powers manifested when he was little and his parents sent him to a mental institute.
What got to my nerves about Vittorio was that he looks so unreal, calling Elena "Mio Amore" or introducing her like "the love of my life" after a day or saw her. I mean, is this man for real?
Elena and Vittorio are powerful, in fact, Elena is the most powerful woman, but she didn't know about her powers, and they never manifested until she met Vittorio. These two powerful people were kidnapped three times in the book, i mean three times! what about their powers? or the fact that Vittorio can drain the energy of the people, not to mention their powers too?
But ok, let us think that is possible, the three times they escape, and Elena used her power to revive Vittorio, because he was killed!.
During the story, there's this character named Kevin, Elena's super best friend, who practically saved her from her past, and helped her every time she needed him. In one of the kidnappings, Kevin was murdered, and Elena calls an old friend, police agent to help them to get rid of the problem, arrest the bad guys. The same day, she and Vittorio went shopping because they're going to the club that night. And I wondered, you almost go crazy when your mother died, and you swear that you don't know what would you do without Kevin, and you didn't cry a single tear for him, not mourn for him and went shopping and can't stop thinking how hot your boyfriend must look in his suit, and how much you desire him? Is this woman for real?
The end of the book is more unreal though, specially the part when Elena asked his police friend, Jerry, if they're going to be friends again, and he said that she would burn in hell for her witchcraft believes, even when she didn't know a thing about then, she said that she knows that's her path because the Goddess told her! Oh Dear Lord!!!
By the end of the book she remembered Kevin -finally- and went to the church, and cried a lot, and then had dreams about Kevin asking her why she didn't save him, and then she felt guilty about it, dear God thank you! you are guilty for go shopping while the body of your friend was still warm!
So no, i do not like this book at all, i tried to like it, and some parts weren't that bad, i even skip to read the "mio amore" and kept reading, and i like the fact that Vittorio invited Kevin to dinner, because that's what you do when your best friend is a boy and you introduce him with your boyfriend, what really pissed me off was her reaction when Kevin dies.
The end.
