The Mists Of Avalon

Hi there

Time for another book review. Yesterday finally I was able to finish The Mists of Avalon, and even when i retake another book that i started before this one, i'm still trying to assimilate everything about this massive book.
When i started to read it (ebook version), i didn't read the number of pages until recently, (guess that's why i noticed that the chapters took so long to end), but then i remember the miniseries from TNT.

This is the description of the book: "Here is the magical legend of King Arthur, vividly retold through the eyes and lives of the women who wielded power from behind the throne. A spellbinding novel, an extraordinary literary achievement, THE MISTS OF AVALON will stay with you for a long time to come...."

And indeed stayed long time with me, because i remember the first time i saw the miniseries, and i couldn't help it to totally love them. The three women caught my admiration for so long!

And who wouldn't love the miniseries with these handsome men as king and knight
Strong characters
strong women and magic
hard decisions
and betray

But as always happens, the book has its differences, of course there are lots of details that weren't in the movie, details that i thought were totally important.
In some parts i totally wanted to slap Morgaine, even when i loved the character dearly, i guess is one of those characters that stick with you, deep in your heart.
I read a lot of comments about the book, positives and negatives, i totally agree with the positives. About the negatives, well a lot of people criticized its point of view about religion, well, talking about religion is always very controversial, i'm catholic and i didn't feel offended by the book, i couldn't be unless i was blind, i know how things are when one culture conquest another, and how they impose their believes to others, and that's all i'm going to say about the subject.
The book was full with rich characters, some you love, some you hate, and at the end, i'm going to cherish the book and keep it in a special place in my heart.

  1. I loved this miniseries, I didn't realise it was based on a book but now I'll have to read it!

    1. i didn't either until recently, it's a heavy book, but it's worth it!

  2. Sounds interesting! Thanks for the great review- I'm a new follower via Bloglovin' <3 Alex
