Monday Movies: Jug Face

Hey guys!
Another great weekend, even when the flu that i got from mommy dearest. Anyway what a better way to start the week than with two free days of work, thanks to Carnival time! I was considering to go to one of the events and take lots of pictures for you, but this flu is really killing me, and be under the sun, with this heat for a couple of hours, well, that's not really awesome right now.
Instead lets talk about another movie which i discovered thanks to the recommendation of Bloodmilk blog.
This kind of movie i'm pretty sure would never have an academy nomination and that's ok, -by the way did you see the show yesterday?  i was in an awesome Supernatural season 8 marathon!- because even when is not a "master piece", it's a weird and very enjoyable movie.
"Jug Face tells the story of a pregnant teen trying to escape a backwoods community when she discovers that she may be sacrificed to a creature in a pit."

First of all, the credits at the beginning of the movie were pretty awesome, little drawings made with chalk, i really like them.
And then the story itself. Imagine a small town, a really small town with people who are so attached to tradition that it's impossible to get away. The kind of place where "marriage" are arranged by parents, or at least a kind of union, to preserve the town, and which is even more, where the sacrifice of a person of the town would come whenever a person was possessed and made a Jug with a face of the next sacrifice on it.

A sacrifice that if it is not made, a terrible "thing" would come and claim innocent victims.

The theme itself would be enough to be totally freaked out, but then we have to add other elements, like incest, since the girl was pregnant and at the beginning of the movie you will know who the father is -yes, totally shocking!- and then we have the pit itself, the place where the sacrifices are made. Lots of blood, and creepy things, not recommended for people with soft stomachs.
There's something about southern stories that they always give me shivers, but i can't help to watch them.
Well, that's all for today, have a nice week!
